DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal Fillers are used anywhere additional volume is needed.

A dermal filler is a product injected into a target area such as the cheeks, around the mouth, lips, or anywhere additional volume is needed for correction or enhancement. Since they are eventually absorbed by the body, the effects of dermal fillers are temporary and can last for anywhere from six months to a year. Some dermal filler results can last two to five years. Results are immediate, and the look is soft and natural.

Areas of treatment using deraml fillers

The procedure time for dermal fillers is about 45 minutes. Topical anesthetic is used to allow for maximum comfort.

There is minimal downtime associated with dermal fillers, which includes the possibility of some bruising and swelling, which usually resolves within a few days. Best results will be seen after 2 weeks.

Why does volume loss matter?

Over time, your face changes in many ways. This is part of the normal aging process. Your cheeks may flatten, and the skin may begin to sag. Fillers add volume to lift and contour the cheeks and lips.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are cosmetic treatments, usually gel-like substances injected beneath your skin to soften the creases, smooth lines, and restore lost skin volume.
Dermal fillers are often confused with Botox. Botox is a drug that works by paralyzing or weakening a targeted muscle. It contains purified bacteria that freezes the muscle. In small doses, it reduces the appearance of wrinkles on your face.

Both treatments are minimally invasive and are administered through injections to provide lasting results. However, dermal fillers and botox differ in efficacy, usage, cost, and side effects.

What can dermal fillers do?

There are different types of dermal fillers designed to treat varying signs of aging. Depending on the type of filler, they can:

  • Soften the look of a recessed scar.
  • Enhance or fill in the shallow areas on your face.
  • Plump up thinning lips.
  • Remove the shadow under the eye caused by the lower eyelid.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons states that not everyone is eligible for dermal fillers. Factors that make for an ideal dermal filler candidate include:

  • Commitment to maintaining good skin health.
  • Physical health
  • Non-smokers
  • People with realistic goals for the improvement of skin appearance

What can’t dermal fillers do?

With the increase in the popularity of dermal fillers, it is easy to overlook the importance of prior research on the procedure. Notably, professional doctors can’t use dermal fillers on your breasts, hips, thighs, or buttocks.

What to expect during a dermal filler treatment

Dermal fillers are a minimally invasive procedure, so a doctor can do it in his office. The steps are pretty straightforward. They include:

Facial mapping and assessment

The provider or a specially trained nurse will examine your face to determine the areas to be augmented or treated. Then, using a unique marker, they will highlight the areas as filler injection sites.

Cleansing and anesthetizing

The injection site is cleaned using an antibacterial agent to reduce the chances of an infection. Then, they will chill the skin using an anesthetic injection or ointment. Although not painless, the following injections will be more tolerable.

The injection

The process involves injecting, massaging, and evaluating the result. This procedure is repeated on all sites until complete. Depending on the marked areas, the process can last from 15 minutes to an hour.

Clean-up and recovery

After the results are deemed satisfactory, the marking is wiped off. Then, you can use an icepack to alleviate the discomfort and reduce swelling.

What to expect after dermal filler treatment

Most filler patients get to see their results immediately; however, some can take seven to 10 days. The overall side effects of injectables are minor. The effects of dermal fillers differ from person to person and depending on the type of filler used. Generally, some can last between six and 12 months, while others can last from two to five years.

Microneedling

Multi-purpose treatment targets everything from acne scars to hair loss.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that works by using a state-of-the-art device designed for a controlled glide of sterile needles across the skin that creates microscopic punctures.

What skin types can be microneedled?

Safe and clinically proven for all skin types. This process can help fill fine lines, improve scars, smooth pores, reduce stretch marks, help with dark spots, and brighten your skin’s texture and tone.

What areas can you microneedle?

Microneedling isn’t exclusive to just the face. While it’s the area of skin that is most often treated, the procedure can be done anywhere the skin on the body needs a collagen boost, particularly those that have stretch marks, like the legs, chest, arms or glutes. May also be used on the hands and neck as well as the scalp for hair restoration.

Microneedling Procedure

before and After

Microneedling offers fairly immediate results but also promises improvement over time.

What to expect during a microneedling treatment?

The entire process will take about 60 to 90 minutes.  Once the numbing takes effect, the provider will cleanse the areas being treated before the microneedling begins. Since you are numbed, you should feel little to no pain.

What to expect after a microneedling treatment?

For the next 24 hours, only wash your face with water. Microneedling leaves you red and sensitive for about 24-72 hours. Avoid retinol and acids, such as glycolic and salicylic. You should also avoid the sun for one week. Do not workout for 72 hours after.

How many microneedling treatments do I need?

Every patient will get a treatment plan specifically for them. Usually it is anywhere from 4-6 weeks for a total of 3 treatments. For anti-aging purposes and maintenance, you would need 1 to 2 treatments a year.
